Global Action to Prevent War (GAP) is a coalition-building initiative which seeks tobring together civil society organizations and friendly governments to transform thepresent war system into a war-prevention system by the early decades of the 21st Century.Its comprehensive program combines conflict prevention, peacekeeping, and disarmamentmeasures in an integrated approach to reduce the scale and frequency of violent conflict,including genocide and other internal strife. GAP promotes a wide range of political and legal projects, for example, compulsoryjurisdiction of states before the International Court of Justice and of individuals beforethe International Criminal Court; humanitarian intervention by UN standing forces;establishing a non-provocative or defensive security system; training in non-violentconflict resolution; and creating a global security environment more conducive to theelimination of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.
