Completely name a primary beneficiary as well as a contingent beneficiary to receive benefits in the event that your primary beneficiary passes away before you do. Please note, if you name multiple beneficiaries, please describe exactly how benefits should be paid Review your choices. A difficult situation arises when the beneficiary passes away prior to the insured. Without a contingent beneficiary named, funds are most often paid to the insured's estate. | | What should I do if an agent tries to get me to replace my policy? | | | |
This answer depends on the type of policy you have. Therefore we are answering this question with two different responses. One answer is for life insurance and the other is for a Medicare Supplement policy. |
| | - Life Insurance - Carefully consider the information being presented to you. Often times, a newer policy will have higher premiums and a new contestability period to go through. Also contact your present company to check on all aspects of your present coverage. It could be that your existing policy has some benefits that you might not be aware of.
- Medicare Supplement - Again carefully consider all of the information being presented to you. These plans are all federally regulated so there will be no new "bells and whistles" that your present company doesn't have. We know that price is a very important factor when it comes to Medicare Supplement Insurance, please make sure that you keep your current coverage in effect until your new coverage goes into effect and it is something you want.
