NEW FOUNDATIONS is a year-long study and practicum program in earth literacy and global systems. Participants explore ways to advance global systems and practices that will secure ecological integrity, peace, human rights, economic and social well-being, and democratic participation for all peoples.

The program prepares participants to become active change agents, redesigning or creating professions or ministries that will multiply their effectiveness and outreach at local, regional, and global levels.

NEW FOUNDATIONS provides both analytical and experiential learning that includes hands-on activities, study, reflection, creative planning, and global networking. There are four program components, which are described in detail below:   Earth Literacy and Bioregionalism; Global Systems; Trans-Cultural Experience and Global Networking; and the North American Pilgrimage and Integration Retreat.

NEW FOUNDATIONS is designed for highly motivated people who already have academic degrees (at least a B.A.) and life experience and wish to deepen their knowledge, understandings, and capacities to act for local and global systemic change.

Participants work as co-learners with one another and with faculty and program staff. In their study and practicum they can choose an individual focus on such areas as ecology, economic development and employment, education, energy, food, health, human rights, housing, indigenous peoples, racial justice, religion, women, etc. The program offers multi-cultural perspectives as a source of wisdom for these and other global issues.

* Earth Literacy is a term used to describe a course of studies exploring the New Universe Story with its profound understanding of Earth as a living organism.
