Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) and the High Level Architecture (HLA) allow the integration of live C4I systems and Man In The Loop (MITL) simulators with constructive and real-time simulations to create a virtual battlefield environment. The HLA also provides the ability to federate discrete event based models to create faster than real-time modeling environments to be used for analysis. However, these benefits have created a paradigm shift in the collection and analysis of simulation results and data. In a distributed environment, the simulations are run on heterogeneous platforms and share relevant data via network communication protocols using standards software such as the HLA Runtime Infrastructure (RTI). The data must be collected from these distributed systems and stored for analysis and playback. VTC's Data Collection & Analysis solutions are based on proven standards and leverage Commercial Off The Shelf components. Data Collection & Analysis SolutionsVTC has developed strong technical expertise in the collection and analysis of distributed simulation data for both DIS and HLA environments. Our current capabilities include the remote collection and storage of simulation and live C4I system data in Relational Data Base Management Systems (RDBMS), object databases, and Object Relation Data Base Management Systems (ORDBMS); the reduction and correlation of the data for analysis purposes; and the real-time graphical display of the data. We have gained much of this expertise by providing support to several high profile programs including the Joint Precision Strike Demonstration (JPSD) and the Synthetic Theater Of War (STOW) Advanced Concept Technical Demonstrations (ACTDs). VTC is currently applying this experience to provide the M&S community with a fully HLA-compliant Data Collection & Analysis System, the Data Collection Tool (DCT) , under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. | |
