How YOU Can Financially Support GEA

In 1998-1999 GEA received about 68% of its income from its Associates and Partners, either in the form of direct donations or through participation in GEA's Alternative Investment Program. About 19% came from grants, and 13% from programs and stipends.

Compound Your Investment in the Future: A positive global future depends on teaching coming generations to be thoughtful, committed stewards of the world's social, economic, and ecological systems.  This is GEA's work, and we welcome your support.   Here's how you can multiply your contribution:

  • Individual Donations
  • Ask whether your employer has a matching grant program. Many companies will match employees' gifts to charitable causes; it can be as simple as filling out a form!
  • ERROR MSGDesignate your payroll-deducted contribution, if you are a US federal employee, to
code #0084. In 1998 GEA received over $1000 as a first-time participant in the
    Combined Federal Campaign.
  • Give GEA a gift of appreciated stock or other securities.  Avoid paying capital gains
cheap hotels in Naxos taxes, and take a tax deduction for the full fair market value at the time of the gift.
  • Participate in GEA's Alternative Investment Program. The interest on your 3-year
    investment will support our programs.
  • Make a bequest to GEA. When writing your will, think about the future. Environmental degradation, wars, pandemics, and poverty are the results of decisions aimed at satisfying
targeted interests and ignoring the common needs of a global neighborhood.

Volunteers and Interns

GEA is a highly volunteer-run organization with 2 full time equivalent staff as volunteers in 1998-1999. Its core staff serves as catalyst, mentor, and coordinator among its associates and partners. Together they engage in programs and partnerships that involve UN agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in education for global citizenship, the development of a global ethic, and systemic change initiatives which promote more humane and ecologically responsive global systems.

In September 1998, two GEA associates, at their own expense, spent a month in Kenya assisting GEA in its "Education for All" Partnership Project with religious orders and Unicef.  A former Kenyan from New Jersey is a volunteer accountant for the Project.

During 1998-1999 GEA enjoyed working with some exceptional volunteers and student interns. Viktoria Baklonova, Janet McLaughlin, Mariana Roversi, and others gave over 200 volunteer hours. Student interns Marie Cajuste, Josiane Doumampouom, Mia-Margaret Laabs, Roshana Nabi, Mahito Sakai, Tanya Stechak, and Ruddy Wang spent 385 hours at GEA.

Interns receive an orientation and experience at the United Nations, work on research projects, assist with Web site updates, learn office skills, and develop a knowledge about a non-profit international educational organization.
